Thousands of homes in parts of Lagos have been flooded due to continuous heavy downpour, with major roads and streets now impassable, leaving residents and motorist stranded.
Many residents in the flooded areas have been trapped, with some using canoe as means of transportation to rescue points.
The flooded areas are Lekki. Ajah, Victoria Garden City and Victoria Island.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has implored residents to stay indoors for their safety and livelihood, unless it is essential.
A Statement signed by the Commissioner of Environment, Dr. Samuel Adejare, advised those who live in lowland and close to water bodies to move upland, he added that officers from the ministry have been deployed to coastal areas to protect the lives and properties of the people.
The statement also implored residents to call the free toll lines of 112 or 767 for assistance in cases of emergency.
