Marian Balafama Buhari has emerged Female Food Hero 2014, winning a huge N250,000 after having spent one week in a house event where the search for the most outstanding female farmer took place.

2nd prize and N200,000 went to Monica Joshua Magari from Kaduna State and the 3rd place winner, Chinasa Earnestina Asonye from Lagos State went home with N150,000.

The Female Food Hero initiative is organised around a contest to find the most outstanding women farmers – ones who have overcome challenges and made significant gains in their farming and their immediate communities. FFH creates avenues for women food producers, who produce bulk of what people eat, to speak for themselves on issues and challenges they are facing to policy makers and key public figures.
