Paris Climate Change Agreement cannot be renegotiated –UNFCCC

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat, has made it known that it is impossible to renegotiate the Paris Climate deal based on the request of one party, as the deal remains a historic treaty signed by 194 and rectified by 147 countries.

The Secretariat regrets the announcement by President Trump and his Government about withdrawing from the Paris climate change deal but it is willing to negotiate the modalities for participation of the United State in the deal and also ready to dialogue with the U.S regarding the implication of the announcement made by its President.

The aim of the Paris deal according to the Secretariat is to reduce the risk to economies and lives everywhere, while creating the foundation for a more secure and sustainable world.

The Secretariat says it is committed to working with all the governments and partners in their quest to fast forward climate action at global and national levels.
