Plastic bags are everywhere and used for almost everything. We bring them home from the market (super or otherwise) and instantly trash them. Sometimes we use them to buy eggs or soap from the local woman just down the street and then, trash them.
The fact is 99% of used plastic bags end up in a landfill. Yet, every year, more than 500 billion plastic bags are distributed and less than 3% of those bags are recycled. And these bags take up to 1000 years to biodegrade.
With our plastic dependency growing and rate of recycling decreasing, it is crucial to make tough but necessary switch to reusable. Recycling is not enough so next time you go to the market or store, use a basket that you brought from home or a cloth bag that can be reused.
